Consultation “Walk and Talk”
Our 'Walk and Talk' consultation package is the simplest of our Land Management Consulting services.
In this hands-on session, we visit your land, taking the time to thoroughly review your existing land management strategies. As we walk through your property together, we'll discuss practical improvements, offer tailored suggestions, and introduce innovative techniques to help you achieve your goals. We will help you identify problem areas and give you the tools and suggestions to follow through with and implement yourself, in a low-impact manner.
This service is designed to be an interactive and informative experience, where our expert advice is shared on the spot. Since this is an informal consultation, we encourage you to take thorough notes, as there are no written reports provided.
This service is available for residential acreage properties, farms, spare blocks or urban settings.

What is Ecological Land Management?
Ecological land management is about deeply understanding and interpreting the needs of the land within the ecosystem as a whole, and planning ways to manage it by mimicking the ecosystem’s natural function.
Every element introduced to the land, from plants to livestock, should serve a purposeful function, enhancing the natural balance rather than disrupting it. By aligning these elements with the land’s inherent potential, we aim to maximise productivity while maintaining ecological harmony. This approach ensures that both the land and its resources are used in a way that promotes sustainability, resilience, and long-term health. It’s about working with the land, not against it, so that it can thrive while supporting the needs of those who rely on it. We believe that developed or cultivated land— as in, any land that has been shaped by human activity—still plays an integral role within its ecosystem.
By managing land (big and small) in this way, we ensure that every element works synergistically to improve soil health, water retention, biodiversity, and overall resilience. The goal is not just to maximise output but to create a balanced, thriving environment where both the land and those who depend on it can flourish. Ecological land management in both rural and urban environments allows the land to meet its fullest potential, supporting a healthy ecosystem while providing for the needs of the farmer, the family, wildlife and the community.
At Elsom Grazing, through thoughtful land management, we work to bring life and health back to the land while producing premium, healthy meat.
We also support landowners to overcome problems and to achieve their goals of sustainability in this ever-changing climactic landscape. Our mission is to help others connect deeply with their landscapes, whether rural or urban, and reach their land goals with care and respect. Whether you are a large-scale farm, acreage landowner, or an urban backyard occupier, we have the skillset available to share with you to help you on your way to sustainability and improved land health.
You may have moved to acreage from the city and are unsure where to begin, you may be a farmer looking to overcome recurring issues, or you could be an urban-dwelling family looking to create a beautiful, sustainable and liveable backyard space while producing food. We recognise that changing the way you manage your land can be a time-consuming and overwhelming process, especially if you're unsure where to begin. Let us guide you every step of the way. We’ll start by surveying your landscape, listening to your goals and then provide you with a detailed plan and a comprehensive, tailored handbook to help you get started.
Our affordable land management packages are customised to meet your specific needs and empower and support landowners to meet individual goals, and better understand the landscape.
